Scenario 4

River Springs Elementary would like to increase their parental involvement by hosting a STEM event one evening for 2 hours. In order for this event to be a success, STEM for Every Child will work with community & corporate leaders in Atlanta to secure engaging presenters for the evening. On the night of the event, many resources will be available for parents including tips on staying involved at the school!

Flash forward: The event was a huge success, and parents were so proud of their children. The community is buzzing about the STEM opportunities, and in turn, many parents decide to join the PTA and attend more school events. STEM for Every Child was thrilled to sponsor this event from start to finish, and plans to maintain a partnership with this school.

Part B

FIRST LEGO Leagues (FLL) are forming across DeKalb & Fulton Counties in anticipation of the upcoming competition. Kevin Smith hears about this cool opportunity and asks his teacher if they are going to participate. Unfortunately, Harris Elementary doesn't have the funds to sponsor this type of event. The principal remembers getting a flyer from STEM for Every Child about sponsoring STEM activities. She reaches out to see if we can help. Within 2 weeks, we arrive with FLL kits for every 3rd Grade class. In addition, we provide training for the teachers to get the league off the ground. After a few months, we come back to Harris to provide judging for their Lego League event. Students have learned how to work as a team, build a robot that solves a real-world problem, use STEM vocabulary, and confidently present in front of group. As a nonprofit, we plan to fund Harris Elementary for years to come for FLL Competitions.
